Camp Mayaro
You may not be able to read this and it is sideways. Somewhere around 1969, I decided to start a kid's camp in the Feather River Canyon above Oroville. I had no money, but that never stopped me before. I met a man who owned an old resort with a bunch of cabins, an eating hall, other buildings, etc. He was willing to rent the place to me cheap. So off we went. I put an ad in the San Francisco Chronicle and who would have believed, 5 kids registered. All high school age. That whole experience is material for another book, but this is a sort of first writing of which I assume eventually became a brochure.
